2024 Festival features nine feature films, Canadian shorts and an art exhibit
From September 24 to 28, Winnipeg’s Gay and Lesbian Film Society presents the 39th annual REEL PRIDE at Osborne Village’s Gas Station Arts Centre.
This year, the Festival will show nine films and an evening of short films on queer themes, all not previously seen in Manitoban theatres. Films from Egypt, France, Greece, Canada and Hong Kong take center stage this year.
The Festival thanks all of its sponsors and partners for their support, including this year’s exclusive presenting sponsor, The Royal Bank, as well as Gold Sponsors, The Winnipeg Arts Council and Heritage Canada.
“From the changing tides of life on the legendary Fire Island, to a young boy who dreams of becoming Miss France, to what life becomes for a Hong Kong lesbian after her longtime partner dies, these are stories in which every queer person will feel represented. In addition, our short film competition is back along with an art show and sale featuring the work of local queer artists.”

Reel Pride Film Festival is Canada's oldest 2SLGBTQ+ film festival. Since 1985, we have showcased nearly a thousand films, bringing diverse and unique content to Winnipeg audiences.
As a volunteer-driven non-profit community group, our mission is to promote 2SLGBTQ+ cinema and provide a platform for underrepresented voices.
Short Films Competition
The Short Films Competition is an integral part of the Reel Pride. Since its inception in 2003, this competition has captivated audiences with its compelling Canadian Short Films, showcasing diverse 2SLGBTQ+ narratives and unique themes set across the country.
With the added excitement of audience participation, viewers have the power to choose the recipient of the coveted Audience Choice Award.
Art Show
Every day of the festival, we exhibit a free art show at the Gas Station Arts Centre!
All the works are made by local artists, and sales proceeds go to the creators.
